2008 Southeast Dallas Community Golf Classic!
The Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove and the Southeast Dallas
Chamber of Commerce once again join together to co-host the 19th Annual
Southeast Dallas Community Golf Classic.
The goal is to support organizations and groups that provide meaningful
services and important resources in our community. This year’s tournament will be held on Columbus Day, Monday, October
13, 2008 at The Golf Club of Dallas (formerly Oak Cliff Country
Club), 2200 W. Redbird Ln., Dallas, TX. 75232.
It begins at 8:00 a.m. With
your help, we are planning for another record-breaking year and we will be
blessed to surpass the $500,000 mark in our 19th year!
We
know your gifts and resources are special and unique.
It’s important for you to know our success is measured and sustained.
·
Reading
is FUNdamental –
more than 6000 elementary age kids annually receive 3 books each from our
support and a national matching grant. Over
70% of these kids are economically disadvantaged – this gift is critical to
their reading achievement!
·
Scholarships
– the Class of 2008 recipients are remarkable.
A single mom overcoming obstacles to pursue a career in Criminal Justice;
a Katrina survivor inspired to help those in need as a pediatrician; all four
are “first” in the family to attend college and pave the way for future
siblings and generations. Awesome
kids!
·
Launching
a Dream –
providing quality after-school programs and tutoring at 10 locations serving
thousands of families and summer programs/activites for 500 underprivileged and
underserved youth – founded right here in Pleasant Grove!
·
Jerry’s
Dream Camp – for
15 years known as Camp Kiwanis, the name change reflects the dream and vision
the camp’s late founder had for kids. Now
two weeks of summer camp in a rural setting that literally “changes” lives.
Love for counselors and fellow campers, leadership and life skills
surrounded by fun and outdoor activities all sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of
Pleasant Grove.
Other
important community support includes the YMCA
@ White Rock, Buckner Children and Family Services, Holidays in the Grove and
the Southeast Dallas Emergency Food Center.
The Southeast Dallas Community Golf Classic has to be
successful. Our social challenges
are as extreme as any part of the city and the tournament is critical to our
benefactor’s success!
We
need your help and your donation is meaningful to the community. A
contribution of a gift certificate, merchandise, or any other item – can help
us with door prizes, as well as the Lucky Raffle. Moreover, you will receive
appropriate recognition in the SEDCC Newsletter, SEDCC website (www.sedcc.org), and
tournament printed materials. The SEDCC is a non-profit organization (501C6).
If you have any questions or want more information on how to help, please
do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
2007 Tournament Best Ever!
